Set an Intention Not A Resolution

This year, set an intention not a resolution. How different would your year be if you saw this year as a practice, removing all expectations and pressures that naturally come from New Year resolutions?

There is an implied belief with resolutions that we we have to stick to strict parameters and when we inevitably fail we tend to fall right back into the same habitual mindset that has kept us stuck in the past.

The best way to cultivate healthy sustainable habits is through a series of small changes overtime.

Follow these 3 steps from Amy Noelle, Certified Mindfulness & Self Compassion Coach to help you plan your small changes and set your intentions for 2023:

Step 1: Expect Setbacks

Setbacks happen to all of us. Go to step 2.

Step 2. Don’t Judge

Setbacks and wandering behaviour is the natural course of someone trying to make a change. Simply notice you have wandered and notice any thoughts or emotions that may come from judgments about it. i.e. “what was I thinking” or “I can’t do this”. Proceed to step 3

Step 3. Refocus

Gently bring yourself back to the plan you had created, allow for revisions if needed and give yourself permission to begin again.

The best way to cultivate healthy sustainable habits is through a series of small changes overtime.

Remember, Small changes, appreciate the journey, remove expectations and follow the 3 steps, again and again. Let us know how you are getting on by sharing your progress in the Blossome Commuity or the Self-Care Healing Group on Facebook.
