Our response to Princess Kate’s Call for ongoing Support After Treatment

At Blossome, we were deeply moved by the Princess of Wales’ recent visit to Colchester Hospital, in our home city, and her honest reflections on life after cancer treatment, the invisible scars, the emotional fatigue, the internal scars that no one can see, only you can feel. Her words shine a light on something rarely acknowledged, that recovery doesn’t end when treatment stops. There is often a long, unseen journey that follows. There is a need for space, community, and compassion as one finds a way to return to every day life again.

Our hearts go out to the Princess, wishing we could support her with mindful self-compassion training, creating the spaciousness needed to ease the suffering, and support her during the quiet rebuilding of life.

This truth extends far beyond cancer. For families affected by a loved one’s addiction, there is chaos during the crisis, and then the quiet aftermath — where trauma lingers, roles shift, and emotions surface. That is when ongoing support is vital. And too often, it’s missing.

Blossome exists to fill that space. We offer what comes next, after the therapy ends, or even when it’s never begun. Through gentle, trauma-informed community care and self-compassion practices, we walk beside people as they rebuild their sense of self, restore their nervous systems, and quietly rebuild their life, at their own pace.

We know this kind of support works, not only for those impacted by addiction, but also for people in our community who have faced other forms of loss or illness, including cancer. They tell us again and again how much self-care and self-compassion have helped them heal.

We stand with the Princess in her call to acknowledge the emotional reality of recovery. And we’re proud to offer a safe space for that healing to unfold, however long it takes, in the Blossome Community.
