This moment is enough

This Sunday’s message comes to you from Greece. I’m writing this surrounded by sunlight and sea breeze, with salt in my hair and my feet still sandy from the beach. For the first time in eight years, I’m on holiday with Hugh and Ella, my two kids, just us. Our first time away together since their dad died 8 years ago.  It’s joyful. It’s healing.

And it’s reminding me of something I deeply believe: self-care doesn’t have to be complicated. It doesn’t need perfect conditions, or a whole day cleared, or a silent retreat. Sometimes, it’s just one moment outside, breathing in, being present, and letting yourself soften.

This week’s reminder is this:

Take your self-care outside. One moment in the sun, on the grass, or by the water. This moment is enough.

You don’t have to be on a Greek island to live this message. Step outside your front door. Let the air hit your skin. Let the light find your face. Even if you only have five minutes, take them. Let yourself be held by the world. Sit on the grass. Open a window. Feel the season supporting you.

What I’m noticing out here, as I float in the sea and lie in the sun with a good book, is how nourishing lightness can be. How healing it is to rest without guilt. To let pleasure in, even with the grief. Even still.

This isn’t about escaping. It’s about remembering. That your body is allowed to feel ease. That your heart can hold joy again. That you,  yes, you, deserve to take up space in the sunlight. soak it in, savour how it feels. Allow the joy in.

So whatever this week looks like for you, find one moment. Be outside. Be with yourself. Breathe it in.

You are worthy of this care.
