Mindful Self-compassion

In this 2hr introduction to the Blossome Mindful Self Compassion course you will learn how to utilise your own innate healing and soothing systems to enhance your wellbeing as well as learning how to change the inner critic into an inner compassionate coach.

During this workshop we will be introduced to the core elements of the scientifically evidenced Mindful Self-Compassion program including experiential exercises and guided meditations. Mindfulness can be described as present moment awareness where we come out of the anxiety provoking stories the mind often produces for us. Self-compassion creates both a kinder and more supportive inner narrative, increased self-care motivations and allows a space to deal with difficult emotions.

The Mindful Self-Compassion program has been rigorously scientifically tested and has been proved to reduce anxiety, stress and depression and increase positive emotions such as happiness, compassion and life satisfaction. Self compassion increases a person’s resilience and strengths by creating an inner compassionate coach as opposed to the Inner Critic providing a healthier and kinder relationship with yourself.

This program has been updated with additional information and experiential practices which are relevant to the Blossome community by Dr Maya Campbell, to provide a bespoke training pertinent to Blossome members.

Important Notice:

This is not a formal therapy group, but the hope is that it may have a therapeutic value. The session is tailored to be calming. Blossome is not a crisis intervention service. We signpost to other services. Information will be provided at the session to ensure all participants feel supported.

This event is for Summer Self-Care for Grieving Hearts participants only. If you would like to try forest Bathing, please add yourself to the waitlist.

Dr Maya Campbell

Meet Dr Maya Campbell, PhD a research scientist, psychologist, mindfulness teacher and supervisor living and working in Colchester, UK. Having initially trained as a research scientist in chemistry and physics, Maya became interested in psychology and mindfulness after having experienced exhaustion and burnout, leading to years of depression and ultimately a heart attack and cardiac arrest. After having been resuscitated, and spending two months in a coma, Maya began years of personal physical and mental rehabilitation. Along this journey she became more and more interested in how people experienced mental distress and did a Masters in Psychology, thesis in addiction to tobacco and trained as a Mindfulness teacher. Maya has spent time working in the NHS first as a volunteer, then psychology assistant and recovery worker at both community alcohol services and specialist addiction units in east London.
