Trauma Sensitive Yoga for anyone affected by a loved one’s addiction

A Healing Space to Release Tension, Grieve Gently, and Reconnect with Yourself

Are you carrying the emotional weight of a loved one’s addiction? You are not alone. Join us for a 90-minute Trauma sensitive Yoga session designed to offer emotional release, and a compassionate space for healing.

This gentle practice invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and nurture yourself with kindness. Trauma sensitive yoga is a powerful self-care tool for anyone navigating stress, grief, and emotional exhaustion.

Why Trauma sensitive Yoga is Especially Healing for Families Affected by Addiction

Addiction impacts not only the person struggling but also the people who love them. The ongoing stress, emotional tension, and silent grief can take a toll on your body and mind. Trauma sensitive yoga helps you reconnect with your own well-being, providing a space to:

  • Help settle and regulate your nervous system
  • Help you develop a greater sense of awareness, safety, grounding and connection to your body.

What to Expect

  • A warm, welcoming space (no prior yoga experience needed)
  • A gentle guided somatic practice to help settle and regulate your nervous system
  • Each form is offered as an invitation with choices for movement and stillness empowering you with a sense of agency, to learn to listen to the language of your body.
  • Beginning with grounding and arriving in your space. Gentle warm ups for your joints.
  • Transitions through forms are slow and gentle with options for rhythm and breath to help promote a greater sense of ease and calm.
  • Two or three simple standing forms focusing on grounding and internal awareness rather than how it looks.
  • Last 3rd of the class is mat based with breath awareness, supported forms, yoga nidra and a guided meditation.
  • Note: the whole practice is invitational based with choice making based on each person’s own felt sense.

This session is for you if:

  • You’re affected by a loved one’s addiction and need a space to breathe
  • You’re feeling emotionally drained and physically tense
  • You’re grieving and seeking a gentle path towards healing
  • You want to nurture emotional resilience and self-compassion

Give Yourself Permission to Rest and Heal

You don’t have to carry it all alone. Join us as we honour your journey, hold space for your healing, and cultivate a sense of inner peace and resilience, one breath at a time.

This activity is open to anyone wanting to experience the benefits of Trauma Sensitive Yoga, in a safe, supportive community space.

Important Notice:

This is not a formal therapy group, but the hope is that it may have a therapeutic impact on your life.  Blossome is not a crisis intervention service. We signpost to other services. Information will be provided at the session to ensure all participants feel supported.

Gail Casey Trauma sensitive yoga

Facilitator

Meet Gail Casey, a dedicated yoga teacher whose journey began with a deep personal awakening. After years of practicing yoga, her first retreat in Spain in 2017 brought a profound sense of coming home, an experience that inspired her to train as a teacher.

A year later, she travelled to Rishikesh, India, to complete her first yoga training in the foothills of the Himalayas, choosing full immersion in the culture and teachings of yoga, away from the distractions of daily life.

Gail’s path to Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) began in 2020 with foundational training through the Yoga Therapy Institute in Amsterdam, followed by an additional 300-hour certification with the Center for Trauma and Embodiment in 2022.

She has since worked with a range of charities, facilitating Trauma Sensitive Yoga sessions, and is now passionate about making this powerful embodiment practice accessible to all.
