Discover the art of Tai Chi, a gentle yet powerful practice that promotes holistic well-being. Tai Chi offers numerous benefits for individuals who have experienced loss and bereavement. This gentle practice provides a safe space for emotional release, allowing participants to process grief and promote healing. Tai Chi’s flowing movements and mindful breathing promote relaxation, reduce anxiety, and help restore emotional balance, providing solace and a renewed sense of inner strength during difficult times.

This session provides you with a gentle introduction to Yang Style Tai Chi which originates directly from the descendants of the original Yang family and Yang Cheng Fu, Grandmaster of Tai Chi.  Tai Chi has many health benefits including: Good circulation, better focus, youthful looks, greater flexibility and an overall sense of well being and calm. It’s great for anxiety, depression and finding relaxation.

No special equipment or outfit is required, just some comfortable clothing and an open mind. Tai Chi is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. In the session you will learn gentle exercises to awaken your bodies Chi flow, Qi Gong and the first part of the Yang style form.

There will also be an authentic Chinese Tea sharing experience after the class.

Participants in the Blossome Summer Self-care for Grieving Hearts programme will have the opportunity to participate in this session and together share a wonderful experience.

Important Notice:

This session is not therapy, but is therapy informed led by an art therapist so it may have a therapeutic value to participants.  Blossome aims to offer a formal art therapy Programme in the future. Blossome is not a crisis intervention service. We signpost to other services. Information will be provided at the session to ensure all participants feel supported.

Facilitator

Meet Debra Colkett, I will be teaching you Yang Style Tai Chi which originates directly from the descendants of the original Yang family and Yang Cheng Fu, Grandmaster of Tai Chi. I have been teaching and studying Tai Chi for health for 30 years and confirm its many health benefits. I look forward to helping you achieve your bodies health potential, good energy flow and inner peace.

The thai chi session takes place at the beautiful new Stanway Lakelands Community centre in Colchester, Essex CO3 8WD

No, if tickets are available, you can enjoy this session even if you are not enrolled in the Summer Self-care for Grieving Hearts programme. However, you will experience more benefits if you take part in the 12-week programme, building relationships with the group, enabling you to feel part of the community and connected with others.

The session lasts for 2 hours, 7 – 9 pm. There is time before the end of the session to enjoy refreshments together with the group.

The session is suited to anyone who has been bereaved or affected by someone else’s alcoholism or addiction. It will enable you  to explore emotions that come up in a safe supportive environment.

After the art making, you will have the opportunity to reflect on the experience and share with other participants as we sit in nature and enjoy refreshments together. ❤️
