Wellbeing Advisor

After 35 years working as a social worker and counsellor, retirement is bliss. It means concentrating on the things that I love full time. Time to be with nature, to walk, cycle, sea swim and generally enjoy the great outdoors. Having an allotment means enjoying working with the soil and reaping the rewards of harvests. Time to read and attend book clubs, to go to the cinema in the day time and enjoy the company of friends or family on a work day. I am lucky to enjoy good health and exploring our wonderful diverse country. Trips to Wales, Scotland and further afield combine all of the outdoor activities that I so love.

However, as the seasons change I am equally happy to spend time at home sewing or crafting something either for myself or as a gift. Slow stitching is very absorbing and I can spend hours lost in stitching and creating. Trips to the cinema in the day time still feels like bunking off school. Gobbling up books from the library a treat.

Equally as important, is having the privilege to share some of my experiences and skills with others. I am a regular volunteer in two different sewing groups, both very different. Enjoying everyday life is a really special place to be.

Why I got involved with Blossome

Initially I was keen to help out with the stitching session for the summer self-care programme. However, after meeting Kim and discussing how the programme works it was clear that I could potentially offer more. I am keen to share any helpful knowledge, insights or experience to support Blossome.
